If so, consider this challenging role as a Workforce Planner in the Strategic Human Resources Services Branch of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS). We are seeking enthusiastic, results-oriented, and client-focused professionals to provide strategic workforce planning and analytics expertise.

About Us:

The Human Resources Strategic Business Unit (HR SBU) supports the implementation of corporate initiatives, and their core businesses and policy priorities by providing comprehensive human resources advice, policy direction, strategic planning, and interpretation of collective agreements and related legislation. The HR SBU provides support to senior management decision-making and planning by providing expertise in talent and performance management, workforce and human capital planning, organizational capacity and engagement, organizational health, safety and wellness, and strategic labour relations.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In the Workforce Planner role, you will:

  • Work closely with our team of HR Business Advisors to support ministry and divisional HR initiatives
  • Develop workforce analysis products such as demographic profiles, dashboards, metrics, indicators and environmental scans
  • Maintain and enhance MCCSS's HR reporting database systems to enable analysis and integration of data from WIN, Talent Management and other workforce intelligence resources
  • Oversee MCCSS's FTE Management Framework
  • Respond to ad hoc workforce report requests from various clients and produce standard monthly FTE, Workforce, and position management reports

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

  • You have demonstrated knowledge of HR information systems (WIN), databases (e.g. Qualtrics), Excel and computer software (MS Word, PowerPoint, Publisher) to design data collection tools, access, gather and analyze appropriate data for diverse and specialized uses, ensure data integrity, prepare various reports and respond to special requests.
  • You have knowledge of human resources planning in order to analyze, report and make strategic recommendations based on workforce information.

Analytical, Problem-Solving and Evaluation Skills:

  • You have the ability to apply data-driven analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret and analyze datasets from multiple sources, and structure and present for use as evidence to solve real-life HR business issues.
  • You can anticipate and identify trends and highlights, analyze findings and relationships between datasets, use forecasting models and conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • You know how to undertake a full research process for decision-making, including determining the problem statement, detailing methodology, conducting research, and developing options and recommendations for senior leaders.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills:

  • You have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff at various levels and with staff of the enterprise-wide centres in order to discuss and address issues regarding workforce data and related business requirements.
  • You have the ability to prepare various reports and communication materials (presentations, briefing notes, general e-mail correspondence, etc.) on workforce issues and analyses.

HR Information Systems and Computer Programs Skills:

  • You are proficient with HR information systems, relational databases, spreadsheet and data visualization software applications (e.g. Excel, Access, Power BI) to design/develop data collection tools, ensure data integrity, and prepare various reports.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of HR-related information systems and databases to design/utilize databases and a wide variety of analyses and reports.

Salary Range: $70,119 - $101,036 Per Year
