The Resource Manager is a trusted advisor and staffing partner to our business leaders. The Resource Manager is responsible for executing on all staffing processes, liaising and providing advisory support on client requests and inquiries, in an effort to ensure optimum project matches are made and utilization targets are achieved. This requires critical thinking and creative solutions, as each staffing decision must be made in consideration of the business needs, project requirements and the development of our practitioners. Specifically, the Resource Manager will:

  • Optimize utilization across the assigned Service Line(s) by making strategic staffing recommendations and decisions
  • Proactively review and understand your staffing position so as to provide meaningful insights on trends, forecast, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern
  • Proactively identify and solve for staffing decisions and challenges
  • Understand client needs and negotiate where necessary. Be adaptable to varied client personalities and situations.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of practitioner interests and preferences and stay closely connected to them to stay abreast of personal circumstances and changes in these preferences.
  • Lead local and national staffing calls.
  • Support resource management teammates in filling their open resource requests by proposing candidates and responding to requests for information promptly
  • Develop and maintain relationships with SL, Industry and Firm leaders, and leverage these relationships to maximize staffing opportunities
  • Seek opportunities to contribute to the achievement of the business’ or the Firm’s initiatives, goals and/or priorities.
  • Resolve staffing conflicts to the satisfaction of all parties, which may include identifying creative staffing alternatives and negotiating with projects and practitioners
  • Assist with the on-boarding of new hires,
  • Escalate sensitive or high-risk staffing situations to the practice leader as appropriate.
  • Utilize cross border relationships and staffing calls to identify possible staffing opportunities
  • Work closely with recruitment to understand the current hiring needs against practitioner skill gaps and project demands


  • Understand how to pull together operational reports and provide interpretation and analysis
  • Maintain a sound understanding of your groups strategic priorities and how the RM can help to achieve them
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the practitioner areas of expertise, skills sets, project experiences and staffing preferences
  • Maintain a solid understanding of your service line project pipeline, plan and forecast in order to manage available resources and advise on future supply and demand
  • Maintain a general knowledge of other advisory services for the purpose of recognizing opportunities and staffing cross functionally
  • Ensure data accuracy in all regards in our scheduling system
  • Ensure practitioner resumes are clear, updated and prepared in the correct Deloitte format, and track compliance
  • Maintain a high level of proficiency in all of Deloitte’s Resource Management tools.
  • Maintain a sound understanding of reporting capabilities and prepare weekly and/or ad-hoc custom reports as needed for staffing calls or by request.
  • Review and analyze various weekly national reports to understand utilization, variances and forecast and follow-up as required.

  • Minimum of 5 years prior Resource Management, Recruitment or Project Management experience
  • Ability to interact, communicate and build relationships with all levels of leadership
  • Strong critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to negotiate and influence others in stressful and sensitive situations
  • Proactive
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with large teams
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Tools
  • Post-Secondary Degree
