We are currently seeking a Payroll Administrator based out of our corporate office. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this position is responsible for day to day payroll processing for a multiple location based business with a centralized payroll consisting of both hourly and salaried employees. This role will interface with internal departments and regional and location administrators. The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the payroll input and maintaining documentation according to company and legislative requirements. Integrity and strong attention to detail are crucial for this role.

Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day:

  • Assist in the preparation and administration of payroll for employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy
  • Input payroll data accurately and ensure it is complete in the human capital management system including new hire information, terminations, and payroll changes on a regular basis and make adjustments as required
  • Process hourly, salary and other payroll related payments accurately using payroll software on a semi-monthly and bi-weekly basis
  • Responsible for producing monthly and as needed journal entries
  • Resolves issues related to the payroll input and providing information to location administrators as required
  • Responsible for all inquiries arising from questions regarding payroll
  • Implement salary increases, bonuses, and so on in accordance with company policies and instructions provided
  • Enter into payroll software, additional changes such as vacation, manual adjustments and check for accuracy prior to submitting payroll for review
  • Produce gross to net calculations for manual payments
  • Ensure Record of Employment forms are issued for separations of employment
  • Comply with requirements as set out by outside entities, such as Employment Standards, Canada Revenue Agency (T4’s, CPP, etc), Worker’s Compensation and Statistics Canada
  • Discreetly handles details of a highly confidential and critical nature
  • Provide support to the Payroll and other departments as required
  • Provide on-going technical support to employees using the company’s Human Capital Management System

Here’s what you’ll need to be successful:

  • Canadian payroll certification or equivalent with 1 to 3 years of payroll experience in a high paced environment
  • Advanced proficiency with HCM systems and applications and working knowledge of Microsoft programs
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Strong work ethic, positive team attitude, attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Sound analytical thinking, problem solving, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor
