Overview of role:

WestJet has been and will be significantly expanding its global network and the size of its business. As WestJet becomes more complex and challenging, we are seeking a dynamic Partner Manager (PM) to join our Commercial Loyalty office. This individual can exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.

The Partner Manager is responsible for driving the profitability of Loyalty partnerships, through program developments and partner relationship management. This partner is an expert in Loyalty program proposition, analytics and negotiation. The key partnerships currently include Co-brand Financial partners, travel partners, and other accrual related partners. The PM will analyze partner performance, and continually monitor competitor and market activity, to formulate development plans. This team member will manage these development plans with partners and internal teams, focusing initially on delivering changes to Co-brand card proposition and improvements to Co-brand card acquisition channels. The role will work closely with the Loyalty Commercial Performance team to develop marketing plans and to drive improvements to marketing effectiveness, particularly in Digital Marketing. This position can be based in Calgary AB or Toronto ON.

Key deliverables include:

  • Develop partner plans informed by analytics, and competitor and market benchmarking;

  • Implement development plans with partners and internal teams (including technical, Project Management and frontline teams);

  • Develop recommendations for Loyalty and WestJet Commercial leadership, to support growth of partnerships and premium travel guest revenue, and improved NPS;

  • Document all aspects of partner development;

  • Prepare Commercial reports for Loyalty and WestJet leadership on partner development, revenue, and market share;

  • Develop relationships with commercial counterparts at Co-brand Financial partners. This will include weekly status calls and quarterly business reports;

  • Work with commercial counterparts at Co-brand Financial and other partners to establish and maintain annual strategic and tactical program calendars.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Degree in business or marketing, MBA preferred;

  • 5 or more years of loyalty program experience;

  • Demonstrated ability in loyalty analytics;

  • Demonstrated ability in the development of loyalty propositions;

  • Strong relationship management experience;

  • Strong financial knowledge and literacy (including loyalty P&Ls, business analysis and forecasting);

  • Superior communication skills (including presentation of analytics to support ongoing negotiations);

  • Highly organized and detail oriented;

  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills;

  • Prior experience managing cross-discipline relationships;

  • Well-developed marketing principles, ideally with experience in Digital Marketing;

  • High standard of initiative and strong work ethic;

  • Expert level of knowledge of Microsoft Office;

  • Ability to thrive and have fun within a deadline-driven environment.
