Under the direction of the Director, HR Services, the Human Resources Business Partner provides client centered service to Facilities Services, Ancillary Services and Community Safety in the provision of a wide range of operational, generalist Human Resources responsibilities. Act as a resource to central Human Resources in the development and implementation of University Human Resources programs, policies and procedures ensuring that both University and departmental requirements are achieved. The assigned client groups are Facilities Services, Ancillary Services and Community Safety Departments and are comprised of a number of functional units including Housing Services. YU-card, Food Services & Parking Services. Bookstore, Printing & Mailing Services. Maintenance, Custodial, Grounds & Glendon Facilities Services. Facilities Development. Planning & Renovations. Energy Management. Environmental Design & Sustainability. Financial Services, Community Safety, GOSafe, Emergency Management with over 800 employees under 7 different employee affiliations (CPM, YUSA1, YUSA2, CUPE 1356, CUPE 1356-1, CUPE 1356-2, IUOE).

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

A University degree in Human Resources or Business Management or equivalent required. Human Resources training/certification preferred. CHRL certification preferred. Conflict resolution training/certification is an asset.  With a minimum of 5 years generalist human resources experience in a unionized environment (including experience working with business leaders/senior management in a consultative capacity). Experience applying provisions of collective bargaining agreements and related human resource policies, legislation and regulations as required. Experience in continuous process improvement initiatives and change management required. Experience in a post-secondary environment preferred.

Beginning with the May 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021 performance cycle, York University employees in salary grades D through J are eligible for a performance dependent annual Merit Incentive Award as part of total compensation.
