Toronto, ON is looking to grow its People & Culture function by adding a Compensation & Benefits Specialist to the team based out of London, ON.

The Compensation & Benefits Specialist, under the supervision of the Manager, Total Rewards, will assist in the design, administration, and communication of base and variable compensation programs. The person in this role will partner with business leaders, developing a deep understanding of the business model and strategy, talent objectives and compensation practices. They will manage the job evaluation program, develop employee and leader training, and act as a subject matter expert for global compensation market data analysis.

This role is available as a remote opportunity, with the expectation of one day per week in the London, ON office.

In this role you will:

  • Assist with design, implementation, and administration of all total rewards programs, including annual incentives, merit pay, corporate bonuses, wellness, recognition framework and benefits design
  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategies for delivery of compensation, benefits, and recognition programs ensuring competitiveness and legal and regulatory compliance
  • Lead global market benchmarking and market data analysis, ensuring the competitiveness of our compensation, benefits, and rewards & recognition programs; while identifying gaps and related recommendation/solution
  • Develop compensation and benefits presentations, content, training, and education materials
  • Lead and oversee the job evaluation program including reporting, evaluation of roles, and partner with HR Business Partners and leaders to facilitate proper leveling and documentation
  • Manage the completion and submission of annual total rewards surveys related to salary budget, compensation and benefits
  • Assist with the deployment and administration of performance management
  • Conduct internal surveys and create feedback mechanisms with leaders to identify gaps in our current programs and facilitate communication and information sharing
  • Ensure is compliant with current legislation as it relates to employment standards, pay equity etc and provide solutions, recommended and updated training as required
  • Work with external vendors and consultants as it relates and consultants related to global compensation, benefits, payroll services, resources and program deployment

What you can show us:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Finance, Business, Human Resources or equivalent in work experience requires
  • 5-7 years of experience designing, administering and managing compensation programs including development of pay ranges, annual merit cycles, salary surveys and review of market data
  • Previous experience managing a job evaluation program, developing leader and employee compensation training, and providing benefits administration
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization and interact with people using tack, sensitivity and good judgement
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strong knowledge of employment standards legislation and pay equity legislation
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • CPP Certification (Certified Compensation Professional) or GRP (Global Remuneration Professional) would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience with UltiPro HRIS would be beneficial
