Position Overview:

Abbott Point of Care is looking for a Senior Human Resource Business Partner to join our team on a 12 month contract.  The Sr. BHR Partner will provide support to managers, supervisors and employees within assigned client groups, ensuring seamless HR service delivery and fostering positive employee engagement.  In a Generalist capacity, you will support and manage programs and strategic initiatives related to a wide variety of areas including talent development, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, change management and organizational development.


  • Act as primary contact for leaders and employees within assigned client groups on a variety of HR matters related to new employee orientation and integration, coaching and performance management, employee engagement, compensation and benefits administration, talent acquisition, employee relations, learning and development and employee offboarding;

  • Develop knowledge and insight on assigned client groups and foster strong relationships with leaders in order to better understand business needs and provide support aligned with business strategy;

  • Monitor, analyze and report on HR metrics reflecting efficiency and propose remedial actions to close gaps;

  • Provide support for job evaluations and creation of new positions, job description updates, review of salary actions, promotions and job re-leveling;

  • Lead and support the mid-year and year-end Performance Excellence model ensuring that all component are executed (performance appraisals, goals planning, development planning, etc.)

  • Act as liaison with contingent labor suppliers to ensure positive contractor relations, monitor contractor turnover and identify issues, manage the annual salary budgeting process, elevate concerns with service levels, etc.

  • Participate in HR projects and other initiatives (e.g. Kronos implementation, hourly workforce salary structure upgrade, salary benchmarking, etc.)

Education and Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Psychology or other related discipline.  HR Designation is an asset.

  • 5-7 years of experience in Human Resources with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a Generalist or HR Business Partner role.

  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.

  • Strong business and HR acumen and demonstrated problem-solving skills, critical thinking and initiative.

  • Ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal skills and presentation skills.

  • Solid knowledge and experience with Ontario Employment standards, Human Rights legislation, etc.

  • Proficiency with MS-Office including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc. Knowledge of Workday is an asset.
