Working from our Ottawa office, we are currently looking for a bilingual HR Generalist to support HR in all our branches.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Programs and Services (DHRPS), the Human Recourses Generalist (HR Gen) provides day-to-day support of Human Resources requirements and services in the following functional areas: staffing and recruitment, orientation, health & safety, records management, training coordination and administration, HR policy and procedure administration, HR best practices and employee/labour relations support, while facilitating a positive relationship between staff and management.

Some of your duties include…

  • Coordinating the daily logistics of the recruitment process
  • Coordinating new hire paperwork and onboarding
  • Entering and maintaining all active personnel files in electronic format by scanning, coding and saving documents to the appropriate directory
  • Liaising with other departments regarding new employees, changes, terminations and leaves of absence
  • Responding to routine inquiries related to HR policies and procedures from employees
  • Supporting the HR department in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience
  • Drafting correspondence with respect to human resources issues
  • Providing support to the Employee Relation Manager on individual cases in the areas of sick leave, accommodation, complaints, etc

Qualifications

We ask all applicants to clearly identify related / relevant experience pertaining to the qualifications listed below.

Education and Professional / Technical Knowledge:

  • HR Management certificate, diploma or degree.  CHRL designation (or CHRL progress) preferred.  A combination of education and experience will be considered
  • 2 years of related human resources experience
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite & HRIS)
  • A thorough knowledge of employment and related legislation (e.g., Ontario Employment Standards Act, Les Normes du travail Quebec, Human Rights Code and WSIB/CNESST)
  • A thorough knowledge of best practices and trends in Human Resources management
  • A strong understanding of the recruitment process 
  • Experience in providing advice and guidance to management
  • Security Clearance to Enhanced Reliability with ability to obtain secret

Other Requirements:

  • Must be bilingual (French & English)
  • Hold or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance
