POSITION TITLE: Technical Trainer

REPORTS TO: Manager, Technical Learning

The primary duty of the Technical Trainer is to deliver technical instruction / training to Internal Konecranes Service Technicians and Konecranes external customers in a classroom, lab and field environment. The Technical Trainer works with colleagues to assist in development / revision of instructional material to meet current / future learning needs of the business. This position requires the instructor to be bi – lingual in English and French. Burlington Ontario is the preferred location as the base, but other locations may be considered. The instructor is required to have a clean driving abstract, may be required to work non-standard work hours to include weekends as required by customer which may include being on call for customer or technician issues.


  • Teach various classes in a classroom setting, administer written tests, which cover all material presented, and evaluate technician performance in lab activities, manages the Canadian Training Center Operations along with assuring the center is upkept and clean
  • Assist in development of learning paths for Konecranes technicians based on technician skill sets, experience, and local branch needs, and provide feedback to stakeholders regarding overall skill level of technician base and offer possible courses for remediation if required
  • Serve as a liaison for technical questions originating from internal and customer technicians
  • Complete required documentation [all test results, instructor reviews, class rosters, expense reports], and assist in safety related training and other duties as required
  • Field instruction may be subject to local weather conditions

EDUCATION: Trade school degree [or equivalent education / field experience] in an industrial subject is preferred, a demonstrated working knowledge of industrial electricity / mechanical systems is a plus.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years of experience in the crane industry as a service technician is preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be comfortable presenting information in a classroom, lab and field setting to new and experienced technicians. Candidate must have a working knowledge of Word, Powerpoint, and must be familiar with current industry / governmental standards / rules such as CSA B167, CMAA,OH&S, OSHA 1910, AMSE B , ANSI, CMAA .This position requires travel domestically [Canada], and may be internationally—up to 20% or more as needed to accommodate students and customers
