Specific Job Description

As a member of our team, the successful candidate contributes to our key projects as follows:
Work independently within a Department of National Defence (DND) Naval Fleet Schools (NFSs) providing system and operational support for the use of simulators (trainers) called the Synthetic Environment Advanced Combat Operator Trainer (SEACOT) and the Synthetic Environment Advanced Warfare Operations and Leadership Facility (SEAWOLF).
Support instructors by determining how to incorporate SEACOT/SEAWOLF into lesson plans and training plans, with a focus on how to configure the trainers to support training. This includes providing training to new instructors on the operation of the SEACOT and its various simulation modules. As a facilitator, you will liaise between DND and LM Canada staff to report defects and areas for enhancement. The LM Canada staff with which you will liaise consists of NTTTS staff, software developers, and support services.

Specific Job Description /Facilitator responsibilities:

  • Configure the SEACOT/SEAWOLF for daily training
  • Support the navy by providing instructors with lesson plan integration support
  • Develop and deliver “Train the Trainer” modules for SEACOTT and SEAWOLF instructors and operators, including both standing lessons, and software version changes
  • Provide training to new instructors and refresher training to existing instructors on the use of the SEACOT/SEAWOLF and its simulation modules
  • Provide cross-training to NTTTS in facilitator duties in order to develop redundant LMC support capacity
  • Log SEACOT/SEAWOLF simulation defects and areas for enhancement; provide reports and track the status of the suggested changes
  • Recommend technology insertions that will make the SEACOT/SEAWOLF classrooms more effective for their intended purposes
  • Conduct Courseware Development work in a team environment both within the embedded NTS Training Team, and within the broader LMC training organization. To include:
  1. developing training materials including; lectures, eLearning modules, practical scenarios, assignments, tests and quizzes;
  2. establishing a detailed understanding of the CAF Training courses/standards;
  3. Identifying and producing updates to the Training Material as it directly relates to CAF standards;
  4. providing support to Computer Based Training activities through data collections, storyboarding/scripting, reviews, workshops and other related activities; and supporting continuous Improvement programs by adapting and evolving training materials and documentation based on evaluation and validation activities and through regular liaison with technical and development staff.
  • Coordinate with Facilitators on the opposite coast to ensure the incorporation of lessons learned and delivery of a standardized and high-quality service
  • Synchronize and maintain SEACOTT and SEAWOLF schedules with NFSs, NTDCA, FLTSKED and other primary users, in balance with ISS and LMC requirements
  • Assist NTTTS with Tactical Control Room support on an as required basis
  • Liaise with LM Canada’s on-site Configuration Management (CM) and Data Management (DM) as required
  • Conduct tours and provide demonstrations of the SEACOT/SEAWOLF as tasked by DND
  • Identify (with the aid of instructors, students, and NTTTS) and report discrepancies between application contents and operational systems functionality
  • Performing build check and regression testing on newly installed builds
  • Working with minimum supervision and following common company processes.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

•Diploma from a recognized school or military/civilian technical or operational training with 3-5 years of professional experience
•Recent experience or demonstrated capacity to instruct in a classroom environment
•Detailed knowledge of trainers and CMS 330
•Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Project
•Training and experience with course scheduling, authoring training materials, training conduct and trainers is a must
•Strong analytical and communication skills
