Within that team, lives the Director, Human Resources Partnerships. As the first point of contact for leaders and executives, the Director leads and advises our Business Partner team ensuring the consistent application of human resources policies and procedures across all business units. With a focus on employees, this strategic leader collaborates with people leaders, to support the people needs of their current and future operations.

Based out of our St. John’s, NL office, this senior leader will be integral to supporting and nurturing PAL’s culture, continuing our reputation as a Top Employer in both Atlantic Canada and the globe.

The Director, Human Resources Partnerships will:

  • Leads the Business Partnership team which serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees to support them throughout the employment lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand and drive organizational goals and strategy with respect to staffing, recruitment and retention.
  • Provide support and guidance on complex employee relation cases.
  • Oversee the execution of human resources core programs, including but not limited to compensation and leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, recognition, training and development, and organizational design
  • Take a data based approach to analyze organizational metrics and trend and providing insight and strategy for improvement.
  • Collaborating with other Human Resources Directors to provide corporate HR leadership with respect to strategy, budgets, policy design, development, and continuous improvement, ensuring that all HR frameworks, policies and practices align with and support the overall operational objectives and plan
  • Providing leadership and guidance to a diverse team of HR professionals
  • Other duties as assigned

  • A strong track record in Human Resources leadership in the private sector, supporting a diverse business.
  • Completion of a Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, coupled with 8+ years of progressive leadership experience.
  • A broad knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, compensation and benefits, organizational planning and employee relations
  • A true coach, with demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams. S/He has worked with team members at various career levels, inspiring them to reach their full potential
  • Strong problem-solving skills, proven through experience in conflict resolution
  • Communication skills that are second to none, with the natural ability to advise leaders on Human Resource matters
  • A strong client-focused approach, ensuring Managers are equipped with the skills and tools to lead effective, productive teams
  • A strategic approach to innovation – never settling for the status quo, and always researching and learning new technologies and best practices for implementation.
