The Opportunity
McElhanney Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Recruitment Specialist to join our growing Talent Acquisition team in BC or AB! Our team of professionals finds creative ways to attract and source top talent to support our business in offices across Western Canada. You will serve as a partner to multidisciplinary business leaders to manage the end-to-end recruiting process. You’ll have the autonomy to develop and execute on sourcing strategies and drive exceptional candidate experience, all while championing standardization, transparency, and inclusiveness in our recruiting processes. Reporting directly to our Talent Acquisition & Retention Lead, you will manage day to day recruitment for several regions, lead our campus recruitment programs, lead a hand in managing employment contracts and assist with recruitment marketing campaigns.

This position will require the successful candidate to work in any one of our Western Canadian offices. Due to COVID-19, you will work remotely until it is safe to return to the office. To view where we are located, please visit here.

Who You Are: A Sourcing Strategist, Creative Writer, and Technical Expert.
You have direct recruiting experience in a high volume setting and are skilled at building relationships with subject matter experts and leaders within the organization. You will develop relationships with various organizations, associations, and postsecondary institutions to help your clients achieve their hiring needs. Your focus on continuous improvement will ensure you are proficient at evaluating current and new methods in the areas of niche market advertising, social networking and job boards. You value diversity as well as equity and strive to create and foster an inclusive working environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment process (hiring needs assessment, job posting, screening candidates, conducting interviews) and prioritize a high volume of job requisitions across all functional areas
  • Develop strong relationships with hiring managers to understand and develop solid sourcing & recruiting plans
  • Champion diversity and culture in all aspects of the hiring process, from content of job descriptions, formulation of interview panels as well as candidate experience
  • Create a continuous improvement and learning environment by developing interviewing and evaluation tools
  • Take our student recruitment programs to the next level by developing a forecasting strategy, creating a student ambassador program, managing campus events and coordination, elevating social media presence and developing effective tracking methods
  • Assist with employer branding and recruitment marketing to drive external engagement strategies to proactively source, attract, and engage with talent
  • Assist in developing global recruitment strategy
  • Assist in reviewing employment contracts (offers of employment, promotion letters, and termination letters)
  • Manage relationships with external vendors including recruitment agencies and software providers

What You’ll Bring:
  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management
  • 2+ years of experience in full cycle recruitment is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end recruitment, with an emphasis on large scale recruitment
  • Strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills to support a diverse customer group
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems is an asset
  • Experience collaborating successfully with hiring managers to create job descriptions, interview processes, and interview assessment tools
  • Strong creative writing skills to support is strongly preferred
