The Team

The Corporate Communications department promotes and protects the Norton Rose Fulbright Canada brand. The team supports employee communications and engagement, media relations and social media, working in alignment with its counterparts in Marketing & Business Development and Digital & Design. The Corporate Communications Advisor will report to the Corporate Communications Manager.

Regardless of specific role, all members of the Communications department need to understand, anticipate and address considerations for a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with their colleagues across the team.

The Role

The Corporate Communications Senior Advisor primarily leads external communications with a focus on social media. It also provides support to national efforts and works closely with Communications colleagues across the country. The Corporate Communications Advisor leads strong content strategy and delivery for all of the Canadian NRF social media channels, ensuring content is relevant and valuable within all channels.

This position is a mix of content production, strategy and copywriting with little oversight and involves representing the organization, influencing senior stakeholders and audiences and deploying strategic initiatives. Developing and maintaining the social media content strategy and standards for tone and voice of our properties and channels is also crucial while establishing best practices, establishing templates, social media training for firm members, and implementing editorial calendars.


  • Works with Communications and members of the Marketing and Business Development Team to build content, social media strategies, execute and promote content placement and amplification campaigns
  • Converts complex content into socially relevant and consumable information with a deep understanding of social media amplification channels
  • Supports the Corporate Communications Manager on ad-hoc content creation, review and deployment
  • Tracks social media activities and provides regular analysis
  • Executes and pro-actively manages content placement and amplification through the use of editorial calendars and channel mapping
  • Produces quality copy that incorporates best practices for digital use across various channels
  • Analyzes and provides reporting and insights from implemented content based campaigns. Uses insights to optimize and enhance future campaigns
  • Works collaboratively with the Digital & Design team to create synergy between textual and visual elements
  • Develops and delivers high impact cultural, wellness, and diversity messaging
  • Writes content and provides recommendations for the practice / leaders when required

Skills and qualifications

  • Minimum of six years of relevant work experience in corporate communications and in a business/professional services environment
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communications, creative writing, related field or equivalent training/experience
  • Strong writer who can craft content in different tones, voices and styles
  • Strong understanding of website technology, web analytics, monitoring and reporting tools, social and email marketing including SEO, SEM, and social media platforms
  • Active interest and experience in social media including LinkedIn and Twitter
  • Ability to work independently and the confidence to make recommendations to partners and senior leaders
  • Critical thinker with strategic mindset and strong editorial and reputational judgment and issues management experience
  • Acts proactively and resolves problems and to manage reputational risk
  • Bilingualism an asset
