Talent sourcing and acquisition strategies and practices play a key role in ensuring we have the right people, with the right skills, in place to ensure our continued success. As a Talent Acquisition Advisor, you'll support our Surrey team through internal and external hiring, and internal employee movements, while providing consultative services on internal and external management and unionized staffing processes. This exciting mandate calls for a collaborative HR partner like you, a professional with no fewer than 3 years' recruitment experience, the ability to build effective, meaningful relationships with the management team, and a passion for providing exceptional support and consultative services.


As a Talent Acquisition Advisor, you'll take on a wide range of responsibilities:

  • Manage all activities related to internal and external recruitment and other organizational initiatives, as per the collective agreements and management guidelines.
  • Provide advice and support to management regarding the application of collective agreement staffing provisions.
  • Provide management counsel and advice in determining appropriate screening and selection processes and tools to staff positions.
  • Conduct intake sessions with hiring managers to understand position requirements, set expectations and gather input – to create sourcing strategies while simultaneously educating on current talent market trends.
  • Ensure high-quality candidates are sourced and submitted.
  • Provide a positive experience to all internal and external candidates by building strong relationships throughout the recruitment process.
  • Participate in career fairs to screen potential external applicants and ensure effective representation of NAV CANADA's employer brand and NAV CANADA as a preferred employer.
  • Conduct telephone and/or in-person screening interviews.
  • For unionized positions, provide advice and guidance to managers on organizational change initiatives, in preparing for union consultation on organizational change, and facilitate the process to effect change.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and modernization of the recruitment brand, and recruitment practices, processes and tools.


As a Talent Acquisition Advisor, you will have the opportunity to leverage the following education, experience and knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree from a university or a college diploma in a related field.
  • HR designation, an asset.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, including experience acting as an end-to-end Recruiter/Talent Acquisition Advisor in a corporate and/or agency environment, recruiting professional services and technical talent.
  • Strong candidate sourcing skills (social recruiting, referrals, database mining, career fairs, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with hiring managers, to understand their business needs and collaborate on innovative recruitment solutions.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize a high requisition load in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency using the MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong analytical and reporting experience with recruiting data.
  • 2+ years' experience using an enterprise-scale Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Change management and project management experience, an asset.
  • Ability to meet the security requirement of the position.
