The nature of the HR Department and its work is such that there is a strong team approach with an emphasis on high quality customer service and the achievement of results, particularly as prescribed in its strategic plan.

  • This position supports strategic changes with an aim to improve organizational culture. This includes the standardization of performance management and accountability measures to ensure employees are clear on expectations and results. The incumbent will also develop and implement HR systems and programs which support the change mandate at the college.
  • The incumbent will proactively work with College leadership and the CUPE local 4951 union leadership to resolve matters, manage grievances and assist with arbitration preparation. The Manager, Labour Relations will also be a member of the Union Management Standing Committee established per the collective agreement between CNC and CUPE local 4951. The Manager, Labour Relations will also be an integral part in preparing for and participating in collective bargaining.
  • The incumbent, under the guidance of the Associate Director, Human Resources, will lead the Joint Job Evaluation Committee processes and activities in compliance with the Operational Joint Job Evaluation processes, Administrative Personnel Policy and Operational Staff collective agreement (CUPE Local 4951).
  • The incumbent may be assigned other HR special projects leading to the improvement of HR practices across the college.
  • Development, implementation and ongoing administration of Operational employees labour relations issues and Job Classification.
