Reporting to the Manager of Payroll and Accounts Payable, the Payroll Lead partners with the Operations team and internal clients to drive forward our mission and our purpose of providing Peace of Mind to our clients and our employees.

Who You Are

Reporting to the Manager of Payroll and Accounts Payable, this role will be responsible to build and lead a strong and sustainable department that meets performance expectation through continuous improvement and quality of service which positions the payroll function as a strategic business partner to the organization.

The job duties include:

  • Establish and monitor the payroll team's performance of: develop goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and apply correction action as required
  • Set, distribute and monitor Payroll calendar, taking into consideration STAT holidays, seasonality and pay cycle of each division
  • Ensure effective and efficient structure is in place to properly support and encourage the team
  • Embody the culture and core values by acting as a Universal Ambassador and deploying through training, feedback sessions, and meetings
  • Monitor the Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) for all divisions
  • Support the Payroll Manager and the Controller on initiatives towards the enhancement of the Shared Services service level
  • Delegate and monitor payroll related UG Cares inquiries to ensure adequate service level
  • Other duties as assigned


  • 3+ years of experience in Payroll department
  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification is required
  • Previous experience with integrated payroll systems is a must
  • Previous experience with Unionized companies would be an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage fast paced estimating environment and stay calm under pressure
  • Self-motivated problem-solver and driven to push things forward no matter the circumstance
