Are you a leader that is creative and forward thinking with a passion for story-telling through analytics? Do you have a strong customer service focus, coupled with excellent problem solving skills? If so, this role could be for you! In this role you will be responsible for developing and leading a group of data analytics translators to support Suncor’s business. You will work with stakeholders on strategic business initiatives including the usage of big data, and the usage of computer science and advanced analytics.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead, mentor and share expertise in data, reporting and analytics
  • Develop the strategy, business objectives, and vision, and implement a 3-5 year plan for the data analytics portfolio
  • Lead the prioritization and planning of the engagements and manage their execution with team members
  • Continuously manage data to identify trends based on organizational or environmental changes
  • Develop the competency of the team to progressively deliver predictive and advanced analytics
  • Develop the competency of our customers to interpret reporting sets and drive decisions
  • Acts as the HR representative on ongoing enterprise wide data and analytics projects
  • Lead the team to identify people related opportunities and risks by combined analysis of HR data and business data
  • Lead cross-functional projects using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover opportunities
  • Oversee the design and delivery of reports and insights that analyze business functions and key operations and performance metrics.
  • Provide governance on tools, process and methodologies in alignment with corporate standards

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Eight years’ experience in a related role executing reporting, data and analytics accountabilities
  • Five years of direct leadership experience
  • Experience with Workday Reporting, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP, SuccessFactors, PowerBI and/or other data aggregation and data visualization tools
  • Strong analytical acumen, intellectual curiosity, creativity, a proven work ethic, and solid communication skills
  • Excellent consultative skills, understanding business needs and translating those needs to technical requirements
  • Strong creative problem solving skills with the ability to craft tailored solutions to meet the wide range of business needs across the organization
  • Deep technical hands-on expertise in data analytics, data visualization, business intelligence, and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with all level of employees through intuitive business insight and personal credibility; this includes the ability to make recommendations and influence outcomes
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • A bachelor’s degree in either computer science, mathematics, business/economics or equivalent

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
