The Cam Clark Auto Group Requires a

Director of People and Culture to Support Growing Operations

Summary:

Serving as a member of the Senior Management Team, the Director People & Culture, will develop and support people practices across the locations to position Cam Clark Auto Group as being the best place to work. The incumbent will lead the human resources function, with an emphasis on articulating our employer brand, developing an acquisition strategy and leading a consultative approach to the development and implementation of innovative and effective people practices. The Director, People & Culture leads the centralized delivery of human resource services to the group of stores, acts as an expert advisor to the Senior Management Team, and ensures policies and practices are in compliance with applicable provincial and federal legislation. The role requires a passion for developing and implementing HR strategy, programs and processes to support organizational objectives and a flexible approach to adapt to various store needs.

Job Duties:

Talent Attraction and Recruitment

  • Work with the Senior Management Team to articulate the employer brand and employee experience for Cam Clark Auto Group
  • Develop, implement and maintain a competitive and innovative attraction and recruitment strategy to develop a talent pipeline to fulfill current and future operational needs
  • Provide leadership, training and support to the Manager, Talent Acquisition and use best practices to fulfill store recruitment needs and streamline and standardize processes
  • Act as a resource to stores to develop a customized and targeted approach to address hard to fill vacancies
  • Develop and implement recruitment-related tools, resources and training for those involved in the hiring process
  • As requested, participate in the recruitment of senior management and specialized positions

Program Development

  • Develop programs, tools and resources to support stores in managing positive and productive relationships throughout all stages of the employment lifecycle including:
    • Onboarding process to support employee integration to their position
    • Performance management to enhance operational performance
    • Employee engagement and retention practices
    • Employee development, career and succession planning policies and processes
  • Implement tracking and reporting systems to monitor and assess the effectiveness of people practices through key HR metrics and KPIs such as turnover, absenteeism, development, productivity, time to hire, cost per hire etc.
  • Guide the review of compensation and benefit packages, make recommendations to increase consistency in compensation plans and practices, enhance employee communication and understanding and safeguard market and cost competitiveness of offerings
  • Assess long term business needs of the Cam Clark Auto Group and work with Senior Management Team to develop programs and strategies to meet business requirements

Compliance

  • Undertake policy review, analysis and updates to ensure ongoing compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Stay informed of regulatory and legal compliance as it applies to the stores, update human resource policy and practices and provide tools and training as required
  • Offer leadership and counsel to stores on matters such as workplace investigations, contract negotiations, performance improvement and terminations
  • Ensure human resource activities are compliant with sound business practices, legislation, regulations and legal requirements
  • Ensure consistent messaging that supports the employer brand in all human resources programs and materials
  • Ensure practices are in place to secure and retain employee records in accordance with policies and legislative requirements

Leadership

  • Manages, directs and provides coaching and training to the human resources team
  • Establish performance and service delivery standards for the department to ensure high quality and timely service delivery to all stores
  • Provide training to new and existing managers in all stores to build knowledge and confidence in people management and compliance with legislative requirements
  • Participate as a member of the Senior Management Team in developing business strategies and contributing to operational and management decision-making in meeting strategic business objectives

Other

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, best practices and develops and make recommendations to enhance employee experience, increase efficiencies and manage costs
  • Develop and manage relationships with external resources such vendors, service providers and contractors
  • Participate in ongoing personal development and continuous learning
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years Human Resources experience with a minimum of 5 years in a human resources leadership role in a sales and service environment
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset
  • Experience in developing a wide range of human resources programs and processes that reflect best practice and the strategy, direction and culture of an organization
  • Experience in building a hiring brand and innovative recruitment strategy
  • Enthusiastic about having both strategic and tactical responsibilities in a growing organization
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law and practices in Alberta and BC
  • Strong technical aptitude, advanced skills in MS Office and skilled at using social recruitment tools
  • Proven experience in partnering with senior managers to develop strategy at the leadership level that results in a measured increase in business performance
  • Strong leadership, coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution and relationship management skills
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present professionally both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service focus and a true team player
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Must possess tact, diplomacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality

Work Conditions

  • Ability and willingness to travel within Alberta and BC is required
  • May be required to be available evenings and weekends
