*Human Resources Assistant* Niagara Falls Public Library Full-time, Permanent (1 position available) The Niagara Falls Public Library is seeking a full-time Human Resources Assistant to provide support in promoting and sustaining a productive and high-achieving workforce. The incumbent will assist in a variety of Human Resources (HR) services and administrative support services to enhance the Library?s organizational effectiveness. Duties of this role include: Assisting in the administration of the Library?s HR policies, procedures, and initiatives; health & safety; disability management; Workday management; recruitment; compensation and benefits; employee relations; employee training and development; legislative compliance; book-keeping; payroll processing; record-keeping; recording and managing meeting minutes; researching information; and report preparation. *Key Responsibilities* * Assists in the administration of HR practices, policies, and processes in compliance with legislation and the Library policies * Assists with recruitment and hiring, training, compensation and benefits, health and safety * Assists with the development and administration of policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure workforce alignment with the Library?s strategic goals. * Participates in staff meetings, JHSC meetings, and other meetings and seminars as needed * Assists with the ongoing development of employee training systems * Provides HR support to staff as required * Provides HR information and training for employees * Participates in and assists with workplace investigations * Prepares statistical reports as needed * Promotes and ensures a safe and respectful workplace * Assists with tracking and maintenance of systems, including scheduling, vacation and sick time * Assists with administration of benefits: Sun Life, OMERS * Assists in the preparation and deployment of staff communications and HR operations * Assists in the management of filing systems and maintenance of employee records * Assists in the administration of employee claims: WSIB * Other duties consistent with job responsibilities *Skills, Knowledge & Training: * * College diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a combination of relevant education and experience * CHRP designation considered an asset * Demonstrated knowledge of current HR legislation and practices * Knowledge of the Workday enterprise software platform considered an asset * Demonstrated strength in the area of advanced computer skills including proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Suite, including database management and record-keeping and the use of online information systems * 1 year of relevant experience * Library experience and knowledge is an asset * Possess strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to high standards of customer service * Exhibits superior oral and written communication skills with the ability to promote a harmonious workplace * Effective organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and be self-motivated * Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail * Ability to deal with multiple projects and work under tight deadlines * Key Competencies: * Superior communication * Commitment to Outstanding Customer Service (internal and external focus) * Data analysis * Planning and organization * Superior interpersonal skills * Continuous learning * Innovativeness and change management * Leadership focus * Supervisory effectiveness * Problem solving and decision making * Technology Level 3 *Workplace Environment:* The NFPL strives to be a workplace which fosters respect for all customers and co-workers, and requires employee commitment to the following: * Adherence to the legal requirements of all levels of government, e.g. Health and Safety, Human Rights, Harassment, Freedom of Information and Privacy. * Adherence to the policies and procedures of the Library which implement these requirements. * B
