  • Job site: JobServe acquires JobShark.ca

Last December, U.K.-based acquired Canadian job site www.JobShark.ca. JobServe continues to make inroads on the North American market. Founded in 1993, JobServe now operates in Europe, Australia and the U.S., with the recent creation of Jobserve USA and the acquisition of U.S. sites ComputerJobs.com, CareerBoard.com and Computerwork.com. JobShark is the company's first initiative in Canada. The JobShark management team will remain in place within the JobServe group.

 

  • Job site: Workopolis exclusive supplier for Yahoo! Canada

has become the exclusive supplier for the career section of the English version of the Yahoo! Canada portal. Job postings and career advice are now powered by the Workopolis site, and no longer by Yahoo!-owned Hotjobs.com. The French portal does not have a career section for now.

 

  • Job site: Creation of the aerojobs.ca site

The new year brought with it a new Canadian online presence: www.aerojobs.ca. This Quebec-based bilingual site serves the aerospace, aeronautics and aviation sectors, and features job postings, internships and training opportunities, mainly in Quebec. Candidates can post their CVs and will soon be able to read industry news. Aerojobs.ca services are free until March 31, 2007.

 

  • Job site: PayPal payment available on Monster

Recruiters can now pay for their ads on the Monster site using PayPal. This online payment service enables clients to make payments without having to disclose banking information to the seller site. Monster is the first job site to accept PayPal payments for job postings.

 

  • HR agency: Bernard Hodes launches podcast service

Since the beginning of the year, the Web site of the HR communications agency Bernard Hodes has been publishing audio files called podcasts. The agency selected this very popular format to provide information on the influence of Web 2.0 and social media in the world of HR. The first podcast is thirty minutes long and discusses blogs and recruiting. Podcasting technology enables users to receive audio files on their computers and transfer them to MP3 players. RSS feeds enable subscribers to get automatic updates.

 

  • HR agency: TMP Worldwide launches text recruiting

HR communications agency TMP Worldwide has partnered with TXT4 Limited, a new media specialist, to provide its clients with cellular phone text messaging services. This enhances TMP's offering by enabling clients to use text to quickly respond to an ad via their phone. According to the agency, the cellular phone is particularly appealing for recruiters—it's a complete recruiting tool and a key cost reduction factor.

 

  • HR software: StepStone acquires ExecuTRACK

International talent management solutions provider ExecuTRACK was acquired by StepStone, a Norwegian e-recruitment software and services firm present throughout Europe. Originally the owner of various job sites, StepStone extended its offering in 2005 with the acquisition of i-GRasp, a solutions provider. The purchase of ExecuTRACK allows StepStone to enhance its talent management solution services, in particular the analysis and development of human capital. Orlando-based ExecuTRACK also provides StepStone with better worldwide market coverage.
