This is a design-led, fast-growing brand with a global following. It has around 70 people across corporate offices in Vancouver and New York and flagship retail stores in the US. The business is big enough that the work is varied, and small enough that you'll see your impact every day and work directly with the owners and senior leaders. We're looking for a hands-on People & Culture Manager who wants to own the whole people function, from hiring and onboarding to employee relations, benefits, compliance and reporting. You'll report to the CFO and be supported by a People & Culture Coordinator. You'll also get a proper hands-on handover from the current leader before you take the reins. What you'll be doing People strategy and operations Act as the go-to advisor for leadership on anything people-related, including team structure, workforce planning, change and day-to-day decisions Keep policies, procedures and the employee handbook current and practical, and compliant with BC and US employment rules Track the numbers that matter (turnover, time-to-fill, absence, engagement) and turn them into useful insights for leadership Look for ways to simplify processes and make the employee experience better Hiring and growth Run hiring end to end: scoping roles, sourcing, interviewing, compensation conversations, offers and onboarding Build a talent pipeline ahead of the business's growth Make onboarding something new hires remember for the right reasons Lead probation and annual performance reviews, and coach managers through performance conversations Support training, career development, succession planning and engagement initiatives Employee relations Give employees and managers clear, fair and practical guidance on workplace issues Handle sensitive matters with discretion, including investigations, complaints and terminations, bringing in legal counsel when needed Make sure discipline and grievance processes are applied consistently Coordinate immigration paperwork and timelines when needed Payroll, benefits and systems Oversee bi-monthly payroll for Canada and the US.
